5-Star Upgrades for three top-performing Educare Centres in under-resourced neighbourhoods
Three ECD centres achieve 5 Star rating
For many children from Philippi, Maitland and Durban a safe, loving, and constructive pre-school environment is simply a dream. Three educare owners are challenging the current situation and are the first to deliver 5 Star ECD education, making access to quality education a reality.
Connie, Irene and Romany, each the owner of an ECD centre in Philippi, Maitland and Durban respectively, are part of the GROW Educare Centres social-franchise group. GROW’s network of high-quality early learning centres across the country specifically serves disadvantaged communities while equipping women to run sustainable businesses. All our centres (currently 29 and growing to 44 by January 2020) are rated against our in-depth 5 Star rating system. The GROW Educare 5-Star rating measures many aspects, including Quality Teaching, Child Development and Business Sustainability.

Hard work gets rewarded: ECD centre upgrades!
All three centres are being rewarded for their hard work and determination. Thanks to a co-sponsorship from MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet and the Belgotex Foundation, each centre has received brand new artificial grass upgrades to their outdoor play areas, to the value of over R250 000.

GROW Educare Centres is a chain on 5 Star ECD (Early Childhood Development) centres across disadvantaged communities in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. Uniquely, we use the principles of social-franchising to help women own and run their own professional, sustainable ECD Centres while also delivering excellent early learning education.
We believe that ECD centres in disadvantaged communities should be able to provide children with the quality learning they need to set them up for success while also paying educators and centre owners what they are worth.’
