Tin House Educare Centre, Gauteng
“I want to provide an opportunity for quality early learning education to as many children as I can.”
Julia Muteba, the owner and principal of Tin House Daycare Centre, is a true inspiration to us all. Her passion for children’s education and her commitment to providing quality education to underprivileged children in her community is a shining example of the power of a dream.
Julia’s journey started with a simple love for having children around her house. But with the realization that she could provide a valuable service to her community, she turned her passion into a full-time business. And with the help of the GROW Quality Education Programme, Julia has been able to take her daycare center to the next level.
The GROW programme has provided Julia with an approved curriculum, an ECD App, and skills development training that has helped her teachers grow.
The impact of the GROW programme on Tin House Daycare Centre has been remarkable. Julia’s teachers feel empowered and independent, and the children are happier as the programme is structured and play-based.

An ECD App with a difference
“The app helps me track attendance, record business income and expenditure, and set targets and budgets. I have used the downloadable resources like the ECD policies for compliance and the flyer templates to promote my business. The parent bulletins are also a great tool for engaging parents in their child’s education,” she says.
Julia’s dream is to have a fully functional, compliant, well-resourced ECD center where she can retain her staff and pay them decent salaries. She wants to provide an opportunity for quality early learning education to as many children as she can. Her determination and passion are an inspiration to us all.
Advice to others: Take a leap of faith.
“I would advise other ECD managers to take a leap of faith and invest in the GROW programme,” she adds. “It will not only improve the education you provide but also bring about growth and empowerment for you and your staff.”
As Julia has shown, it is possible to make a significant difference in the lives of your students, your staff, and your community.
