1. Introduction The Grow ECD Giraffe App Reactivation Competition (“the competition”) is organized by Grow ECD (“the promoter”). By entering the competition, participants agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Eligibility
2.1. The competition is open to all Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres that are located in South Africa.
2.2. ECD centres must:
• Be independent and not part of the Grow ECD Small Business Programme.
• Have used the Grow ECD Giraffe app during 2024
• Have at least 15 enrolled learners.
2.3. Learner attendance records must be accurate and up-to-date to qualify for entry.
2.4. Employees of Grow ECD, its suppliers or their immediate families, and anyone professionally connected to the competition are not eligible to enter.
3. How to Enter the Lucky Draw
3.1. To participate, ECD centres must:
• Log into their Grow Giraffe or Meerkat app.
• Ensure their registered learners are updated and correct.
• Take/Log attendance for at least 15 learners for 5 consecutive days within a week during the competition period.
3.2. Each qualifying week’s attendance earns one entry into that week’s lucky draw.
3.3. For the grand prize draw, ECD centres must have taken attendance for at least 10 days (2 X 5 consecutive days) during the competition period.
3.4. The competition runs from Monday, 27 January 2025, to Sunday, 23 February 2025. Entries submitted outside this period will not be considered.
4. Prizes
4.1. Weekly Prizes: Four (4) ECD centres (one from each region) will win a R500 Shoprite/Checkers voucher each week for three weeks.
4.2. Grand Prizes: Four (4) Samsung tablets (valued at R3,000 each) will be awarded to ECD centres (one from each region) at the end of the competition.
4.3. Regions are defined as:
• Region 1: Gauteng, North West, Limpopo, Mpumalanga
• Region 2: Western Cape, Northern Cape
• Region 3: KwaZulu-Natal, Free State
• Region 4: Eastern Cape
4.4. Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and cannot be converted into cash.
4.5. The vouchers and tablets are intended for the benefit of the ECD centres and must be used for their operational needs.
4.6. The tablets come with a manufacturer’s warranty. Grow ECD is not liable for any damages, loss, or insurance claims related to the tablets.
5. Winner Selection and Notification
5.1. Weekly winners will be randomly drawn from qualifying entries submitted during the respective weeks of the competition.
5.2. Grand prize winners will be randomly drawn from qualifying ECD centres that meet the attendance criteria for the entire competition period.
5.3. Winners will be notified within 48 hours of the draw via the contact details provided on their Grow Giraffe app profile. Centres are responsible for ensuring their contact details are accurate and up-to-date.
5.4. If a winner cannot be contacted within 48 hours, they will forfeit their prize, and a new winner will be drawn.
5.5. Winners will be announced on Grow ECD’s social media platforms and WhatsApp groups, subject to the winners’ consent.
6. Data Privacy and POPIA Compliance
6.1. By participating in the competition, entrants consent to the processing of their personal information for the purposes of administering the competition.
6.2. Winners may be required to consent to the use of their names and ECD centre details in promotional materials. This consent is voluntary.
7. General Terms
7.1. Grow ECD reserves the right to amend or cancel the competition at any time without prior notice, provided that such amendments or cancellations do not unfairly disadvantage participants.
7.2. Grow ECD is not responsible for technical errors, interruptions, or malfunctions related to app usage during the competition.
7.3. By entering the competition, participants acknowledge that the prizes are awarded “as is” and agree that Grow ECD will not be liable for any defects or issues beyond the manufacturer’s warranty.
