Vacancy: Regional Manager, Western Cape Regional Office (Full time, Permanent Position)

We are looking for a dynamic leader with excellent interpersonal and business skills to manage our regional team in Cape Town.


The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years leadership experience in grassroot community development projects, preferably in the ECD or Education sectors. You will be required to develop a dedicated team and accountable for ensuring the implementation of business, operational and educational outcomes in the region.

Grow is determined to bring 5-star early learning to every neighbourhood that provides children with the quality learning they need to set them up for success. To achieve our vision, we equip and connect ECD businesses with the skills, support and resources they need to run professional Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres that are also financially sustainable businesses. As part of this, we have an integrated mobile application (App) that is available for free to any ECD centre in South Africa. This mobile App suite ensures ECD centre owners have all the tools, resources and training in the palm of their hand and includes tools and resources for teachers and parents.


Responsibilities:
• Manage the strategic implementation plan for the region.
• Manage and develop the regional team to ensure regional plans and key deliverables are met.
• Determine and implement strategies and plans to market Grow’s services within the sector in the region.
• Engage and build relationships and networks within the sector including ECD centre owners, DBE, local government, support, partner and funder organisations.
• Monitor and analyse data regarding mobile App usage.
• Determine strategies and plans to encourage active use of the mobile App by ECD centre owners, teachers and parents in the region and manage the implementation thereof.
• Provide feedback on challenges for active usage and provide input for improvements/developments of the mobile App
• Identify potential eligible centres for the Grow Small Business Programme and guide interested and eligible ECD centre owners.
• Conduct site visits to centres wanting to purchase the Grow Small Business Programme on needs, number of kits and layout to ensure maximum impact to the centre. Assess eligibility of ECD centre for financial assistance.
• Ensure process for ECD owners requiring financial assistance is followed and advise /update ECD centre owners of application status.
• Clarify agreements with ECD centre owners of successful financial assistance applications and secure required payments.
• Advise centres, place orders and secure required payments
• Provide business mentoring to centre owners using the Grow Programme, including guiding centres in the application process for registration/reregistration and government subsidy applications.
• Manage the effective delivery of the applicable support packages for the ECD centres
• Monitor educational and business outcomes to assess impact and improvements to support packages to ECD centres
• Prepare Regional reports
• Provide business mentoring and facilitate training for ECD centre owners

Requirements and Competencies:
• A relevant tertiary qualification
• At least 10 years leadership experience
• Knowledge of ECD sector will be an advantage
• Business savvy and financial acumen
• Strong people management, development and interpersonal skills
• Strong planning and organisational skills and able to meet deadlines
• Decisiveness, initiative, problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Facilitation, training and presentation skills
• Networking and building relationships and partnerships
• Report writing experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office suite and comfortable with technology
• English speaking, ability to speak Xhosa or Afrikaans will be an advantage
• A driver’s license and own car is essential
• Must be comfortable traveling to ECD centres in the region.
